About me

This is a personal homepage, so here's a little about me if you're interested ...

'Me' is living in The Hague, The Netherlands. My interest for aircraft started with the many plastic models I built as a kid. (Yes, I wanted to become a pilot too.) Later on I discovered the 'incredible world of rc models'.
As a young adult I did my best to get over it. Yet, there seem to be no cure... at the age of 39 I was hooked again because I still had this strong desire to build flying scale models of historic civil aircraft.

Me and the Shuttleworth's Desoutter Mk.I. This aircraft was a licensed built Koolhoven F.K.41.

On the web
Next to my modelling I'm also webmaster for the Koolhoven Aeroplanes Foundation and the historic aviation portal/webring Dutch Historic Aviation Sites.

For real
Off course I had to try the real thing as well. This is me taking a leap in Sauerland, Germany, where I took a one-week course hang gliding. Funny thing is I always was scared stiff when standing on a pair of skis on the slope of a mountain, but I felt quite at ease with my feet high above.

I also had a trial lesson in this Tecnam P92 of Skyriders at Lelystad Airport. I loved it, but there's a limit to the amount of hobbies you can have, right? I'd better stick to modeling, which is already quite an investment in both time and money. Besides, my real favorite aircraft can only be realized as models.

Love
My little girl loves "airp'anes" too. Here she's finishing her first model. She works a lot quicker than her dad.

Meike

Here a drawing of her daddy and his airplane.

Descent
The place where I was born is something special. My parents' ship was moored right next to the office of the Holland-America Line when I saw life. It's a historical place. Many, many people have boarded here to find a new life in America. This photograph dates from 1973, when I was seven years old. The ship is the 'Statendam'.
Today the building is in use as a hotel. It's called "Hotel New York" and has a very special atmosphere. The lower floor is a great restaurant. Who can have dinner with a view on his birthplace?
